The Team with Momentum

Marie Merritt - Owner & Master Trainer

Marie Merritt started Momentum in 2005 because she believed her clients, not only deserved, but would benefit from a completely positive environment. They need a trainer who is about helping them achieve their goals and helping them change their lifestyle. Training is a big commitment and each client deserves nothing but the best.

"Being a trainer is not just about the routine. It's about providing support and motivation to help clients make it through the rough times. Being able to show clients how to lead a healthier lifestyle and watching them apply what they have learned is so rewarding. It is exciting to see the changes and to experience my clients reactions to the changes their bodies are making. Our society is generally so inactive and so unhealthy and it motivates me to try to make a difference. I am determined to change the world through fitness - one person at a time." - Marie Merritt

All of Marie's clients will be pushed to their limits and will have a trainer by their side the entire time. Marie believes that being healthy and fit leads to a more productive and happier life. It is her goal to help people find that happiness within, and lead them along their path, using fitness as a guide.

Having been an athlete her entire life, she understands the challenges one must go through to attain peak physical condition. She works with many of the local professional, collegiate, and junior athletes. Marie prides herself in her extensive knowledge of the human body and its mechanics. This helps ensure the success of her clients. She believes in motivating her clients and helping them make positive changes in their lives.

"All people are motivated for different reasons. No matter your reason, I believe that you deserve the opportunity to be guided by a fitness professional who can assist you in creating the most effective routine for you. Every individual deserves the opportunity to train and to live a healthy lifestyle. The lifestyle changes that I have guided my clients through have been very challenging, yet rewarding, to all parties involved. Each person possesses a different quality that adds a new dynamic to Momentum. I feel that it is a pleasure to serve all of my clients and to provide them with the highest quality training. Every client brings a new challenge and has a different set of goals, but they all share a drive to succeed. My life is richer because of the positive changes that I have helped make in people's lives. I am truly blessed to have the gift of motivating others to change themselves into healthier, happier individuals."

Cathy began her career in fitness in 2003 after the birth of her first son and a successful career on Wall Street where she worked as a recruiter and then manager for Merrill Lynch and PaineWebber/UBS. Not feeling completely fulfilled in a job where she spent the majority of the day behind her desk she decided to make a career and life-change to her ultimate passion-fitness!
Cathy has been an avid exerciser and sports competitor for the last 2 decades.  She recently competed in her first triathlon where she finished in the top 10%.  When asked about her finish she said “I am happy since this was my first time out. Now that I know what to expect, I can train better and expect to do better next time”   To expect the best from herself as well as others around her is her motto.   “While every day may not be your best day, the least you can do is try your best every day”.
“I believe that everyone has the ability to be fit, strong and healthy.   Those words mean different things to different people and helping people reach their top potential is the goal.    Being fit is more than being a certain size; it is about feeling good about who you are.  No matter where you are in your journey of fitness you need to acknowledge where you came from, know where you are going and respect the effort and dedication it takes to get there.    It’s about becoming the best version of you.  Our feelings about ourselves penetrate every aspect of our lives; our work, our family, our friends.  Exercise is an effective way to build not only strong bodies but strong minds.
